We think one of the best features in Views On Top is the Near Me screen.
So long as you have Location Services turned on, it shows places near wherever you are with great views, and they can be seen on a map by tapping the ‘pin’ in the top right of the screen.
This screen would show if you’re in central Sydney, Australia:
This is the map you’d see if you were in Switzerland, tap on any pin for details:
Tap the Search tab to find the sort of experience you’re looking for, or Search by Location if you’re planning your visit.
We’ve categorised all destinations in Views On Top into nine types of locations (buildings, towers, monuments etc) and ten sorts of experiences (including observation decks, hikes, adrenalin activities, restaurants and bars).
Every destination is open to the public and easily accessible, unless specified otherwise in the location’s details.
From the menu on the top left of the screen, see What’s New for destinations recently added to Views On Top and What’s Popular which for a clever snapshot of all users’ saved places they want to go:
Tap on any location to view it’s location details. opening times, how to get there and more… and
- tap the screen to see more images by swiping sideways; names of people who’ve submitted images are shown on each picture
- tap the ‘Camera’ icon on the top right to add a photo. Once approved, the image will appear with your name as the photographer!
- tap the ‘Message bubble’ icon to add a comment
Tap ‘+’ to add the location to your I’ve Been and/or I Want to Go lists. You first need to have signed in to add places to your lists. And in case you’re wondering, your lists are private, we can’t see what you choose.
We love our users suggesting locations to add to Views On Top!
From the menu screen, tap Suggest New Location. Then tap Use Your Current Location if you’re at the location you want to add and let the auto GPS fill in the address for you. Or type in the address if you’re not. Just add the Location Name, a brief note of why you recommend the place and any tips on getting there, then add a (preferably portrait orientation) photo and hit submit!
Once your location is reviewed and details added by the Views On Top team, it’ll be added to the app with your name on the pic 🙂 Cool, heh!
First you have to Log In to Views On Top, then tap ‘+’ on the location details screen of any place you want to add to your lists.
You can add places to both lists if you want and no-one’s going to check you’ve actually been anywhere 🙂
Then tap on the I’ve Been and I Want To Go tabs. Swipe up to see your chosen places and tap on any location to see its detail.
Tap the pin icon on the top right hand corner to see all the places you’ve been or want to go, on your very own maps of the world.
This is a great way to keep track of where you’ve been and create a bucket list of places you want to go… if there’s somewhere you want to add to your list that’s not in Views On Top, please suggest we add it!
No, only you can see this data. Algorithms in Views On Top consolidate the locations that all of our users have added to I Want to Go to create the What’s Popular screen. Your data is totally private and you can change it at any time.
