How to find places with views in Views On Top
Here are screenshots of the screens that displayed when you first opened Views On Top … it’s simple to get around once you have a bit of a play.
Swipe sideways to move between the screens – Editor’s Choice (places we like), Near Me (wherever you are with Location Services turned on), and Log In to see the Places I Have Been and Places I Want To Go
Tap the ‘Pin’ icon on the top right of the screen to display search results on a map
Swipe up to view location summaries, tap on a location to see its details and tap ‘+’ to add the location to your ‘Places I Have Been’ and/or ‘Places I Want to Go’ (you need to have Signed In to add places to your lists). And in case you’re wondering, what you add to your lists is private
- tap the screen to see more images by swiping sideways
- tap the ‘Camera’ icon on the top right of the screen to add a photo
- tap the ‘Message bubble’ icon to add a comment (you need to have Signed In to add photos and comments)
You can suggest a location to add to Views On Top by following the sequence below…
then tap the blue button in the middle of the next screen, ‘Suggest New Location’
and lastly, fill in the details on the next screen… if you’re at the location with Location Services activated, let the auto GPS fill in the address for you and just add the Location Name, a brief note of why you recommend the place and any tips on getting there, then add a (portrait orientation) photo and hit submit!
When your location is approved it will appear on Views On Top and your name will be on the photo. Cool, heh!
First you have to Log In to Views On Top, then tap ‘+’ on the location details screen of any place you want to add to your lists. You can add places to both lists if you want and no-one’s going to check you’ve actually been anywhere 🙂
Then swipe sideways to the Places I Have Been and Places I Want To Go screens. Swipe up to see your lists of places and tap on any place to go to its detail screen.
Tap on the pin icon on the top right hand corner to see all of the places you’ve been or want to go, on your very own maps of the world.
This has to be the easiest way to keep track of where you’ve been to share with your family and friends, and to create a bucket-list of places you want to go… some day soon?
No, only you can see this data. Algorithms in the app’s background consolidate the locations that all of our users have added to ‘Places I want to go’ to create the Popular search screen. Your personal data is totally private and you can change it at any time.
